Two more police officers arrested for taking bribe
Two more police officers were caught taking bribe by the agents of the Center for Fighting Economic Crimes and Corruption (CCCEC). A senior migration inspector from the Riscani District Police Commissariat demanded €1000 from a foreign citizen. The second one, a traffic police inspector from the Basarabeasca District Police Commissariat, demanded 2000 lei from a local, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to a press release of the Ministry of the Interior, the senior migration from the Riscani District Police Commissariat was caught red-handed while taking 5000 lei of the €1000 demanded from a foreign citizen. He requested the money in turn for not documenting an alleged violation.
The Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office initiated criminal proceedings in this case. The suspect risks 5 to 10 years in jail, a fine of 1000 to 3000 conventional units and a ban from certain positions or functions of 2 to 5 years.
The traffic police inspector from the Basarabeasca District Police Commissariat was arrested after he demanded 2000 lei from a local to return his driving license. The local had been caught driving drunk by the inspector.
Last week, two police officers from the Ciocana District Commissariat were caught squeezing €2000 from a citizen accused of rape.
