A man aged 62 from Glodeni district and another one aged 71 from Cahul district died because of the novel coronavirus. Both of the patents were treated at the Emergency Medicine Institute. One of them was hospitalized on April 2, while the other one on April 6. The information was presented by Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbrăveanu after the April 8 meeting of the National Focal Point, IPN reports.
A number of 24 cases of death associated with the novel coronavirus have been reported in Moldova so far. Among the fatalities are three doctors.
As many as 114 persons confirmed with COVID-19 are in a serious state. Seven persons were put on a ventilator. The state of the other patients is medium grave or satisfactory. Also, 43 patients diagnosed with COVID-19 recovered.
The minister said that 1,056 infections were confirmed by now and 114 of them were imported, while the rest are cases of local transmission. In the Transnistrian region, there are 59 persons diagnosed with COVID-19.
Worldwide, COVID-19 claimed 82,099 lives. The largest number of casualties was reported in Italy – over 17,000. The United States reported the highest number of the confirmed cases of COVID-19 – over 400,000. The death toll from the novel coronavirus in the U.S. rose to almost 13,000.
