In conditions of dry air and gusty winds, the Emergencies Inspectorate warns the public about the risk of wildfires over large areas, with significant material damage to the environment and the housing stock, and imperiling people’s lives.
To prevent such fires, the public is asked to avoid open fire near fields, forested areas and recreational areas. Do not set fire to dry vegetation, stubble or household waste to clean land and households. Also, do not discard cigarette butts, matches or other lit objects on the surfaces around forested areas. Adults are urged to pay maximum attention to children and make sure they don’t play with fire.
The public is asked to call the emergency service 112 whenever such hazards arise.
