Two women swindled thousands of euros pretending to have influence in City Hall

Two women were caught red-handed while receiving €5000 swindled from a man. One of them pretended to have influence over some officials within the Chisinau City Hall and the other one claimed to be an employee of the City Hall, Info-Prim Neo learned from a press release of the Prosecutor General’s Office. According to preliminary data gathered by the prosecutors, between 2008 and July 2012, a woman claimed during the discussions with a man that she had influence over some officials within the City Hall. She demanded and received money from the man to ensure that necessary papers are issued for the right to buy an unfinished building in the capital and the adjacent land, and for obtaining ownership over 1.45 ha land in the capital. According to the complainant, in July this year, he was called by a woman who introduced herself as an employee of the City Hall and told him that she received the submitted set of papers for examination. For ensuring that the man obtained a piece of land in Botanica sector, she demanded €5000. The two arrested women are suspected to have swindled a total of €145,000 from other victims. The prosecutors and anticorruption officers are running an investigation to identify all the people involved in this scheme.
