An artist in Moldova has created a mock-up of US$1bn in banknotes to highlight the amount lost in the country’s biggest banking scandal. Stefan Esanu’s work #LaDatorie (On duty) attracted the attention of the BBC, which published an article about this.
According to the article, the artist said he wanted to help people visualize how much money was stolen. The 10 huge piles of fake US$100 bills are on display at a library in the capital Chisinau, each weighing a hefty 500kg.
Stefan Esanu exhibited his contemporary art installation at the Municipal Library “B.P. Hasdeu” on February 16.
