“Vadul lui Woodstock-2011” festival brings together bands from both banks of Nistru

Artists from both banks of the Nistru River will sing live during the Festival “Vadul lui Woodstovk - 2011” that starts on May 21. The fifth festival that will last for two days takes place on the stadium of the recreational camp “Zambet” in Vadul lui Voda. It is themed “Music for Peace”, Info-Prim Neo reports. Oleg Negru, chairman of the public association “Artcord” in Vadul lui Voda, which organizes the festival, said the music is a powerful instrument for conveying ideas and plays a very important role in promoting the culture of peace because it joins the people. Twenty bands from Chisinau, Tiraspol, Balti and Bender will take part in the festival. There will also perform bands from Bucharest, Minsk and Kiev. The invitees from abroad are the bands “Travka”, “Ricoshet”, and “Grimfaith”. An NGO Fair will take place within the festival, where there will be distributed leaflets about a healthy lifestyle. “The NGOs will promote nice and positive things in our country,” said Oleg Negru. The total budget of the festival is €13,000. It is organized with financial support from the U.S. Embassy, private individuals and a number of organizations. A ticket to the festival costs 40 lei. The first festival was held in 2006. It was founded following a series of successful examples in the world.
