Valeriu Strelet: It will be hard to sign agreement on formation of local alliances
The leader of the Liberal-Democratic parliamentary group Valeriu Strelet Tuesday told the press that it will be hard to sign the agreement to make local alliances in the formula proposed by the Democratic Party and the Liberal Party, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The lawmaker stressed that compromises have been reached in a number of districts and if the central administration of the parties had not intervened, the district heads would have been elected long ago. “There are risks when they intervene harshly in the work of the local organizations, which know their priorities and the interpersonal relations,” said Valeriu Strelet.
In a news conference earlier today, the head of the Democratic parliamentary group Dumitru Diacov said that the agreement to form local alliances wasn’t signed because the three parties of the ruling alliance kept their initial positions and did not try to find a compromise that would have helped reached viable agreements at local level. According to him, it was a mistake to concentrate the discussions on the formation of local alliances in Chisinau.
The Liberal group leader Ion Hadarca told the reporters that the PLDM put forward the idea of creating local alliances and should have made an offer. “One of the principles proposed was the percentage of votes polled nationwide. We suggested the percentage should include the municipality of Chisinau, but gave up the idea. We thus made a concession. It was then decided that the partners that have a relative majority cannot form the local bodies without the participation of the other components of the alliance. Thus, it was agreed that the party that proposed the initiative should make an offer, but no offer was yet made public,” said Ion Hadarca.
On June 21, the leaders of the Alliance for European Integration announced they will sign an agreement on the formation of local alliances, but did not do it yet.
