Valeriu Strelet: We regret that a part of our colleagues decided to join this majority

“We regret the fact that a part of our colleagues decided to joint this parliamentary majority. We will follow attentively the developments and will see who is proposed for premiership by this majority,” said the acting chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) Valeriu Strelet. After the meeting of the party’s Standing Bureau held in the evening of January 11, the politician said the PLDM will continue to struggle for the political system to be re-formed and reforms to be done, IPN reports.

According to Strelet, each party that is taking part in the formation of a majority must count on its own political result, not on the number of seats that can be bought ‘as at the market’. “We consider that this phenomenon to excessively extend the political influence of one political pole on the government too is very dangerous for the Republic of Moldova,” he stated, noting that the PLDM does not accept politics based on corruption, pressure and blackmail.

The politician said PLDM has always been ready to take part in the formation of a majority starting with November 30. But this majority was to be created on particular conditions aimed at doing profound reforms and at changing the attitude to politics and politicians.

Seven MPs of the PLDM, namely Vladimir Hotineanu, Ion Balan, Stefan Creanga, Nae-Simion Plesca, Gheorghe Mocanu, Mihaela Spatari, and Aliona Gota, in the evening of January 11 announced that they will support the formation of a parliamentary majority. Later the same day, these signed a statement on the formation of the majority alongside the Democratic and Liberal MPs and the unaffiliated MPs of the Social-Democratic Platform.
