From April 1, the drivers do not have to travel with the lights on during the day. Tudor Capatana, senior specialist at the Traffic Police Division's PR department, has told Info-Prim Neo under the street traffic regulations the drivers are obliged to travel with the lights on during the day between November and March, when the visibility is poor. According to Tudor Capatana, studies showed that the drivers are more attentive to traffic when the lights of the vehicles are on. The number of road accidents is thus lower. From November 1, 2009 until March 19, 2010, about 3,700 drivers, 1,200 of whom from Chisinau, had been fined 20 to 60 lei for traveling with the lights off.
