War veterans of the Special Destination Police Battalion of the Ministry of the Interior on April 28 protested in front of the Government Building. These demanded that the concessions they enjoyed earlier should be restored, IPN reports.
According to the chairman of the Organization of Veterans and Pensioners of the Special Destination Police Battalion of the Ministry of the Interior Valeriu Chicu, the veterans want all the concessions and allowances that were eliminated in 2009 to be restored. Among these are the provision by the state of health policies to veterans who do not work, free studies for veterans’ children, rise in the war pension, etc.
Veteran Victor Todorov wants to enjoy medical services of a high-quality. “We have no rights in the health system. We want at least the tickets to sanatoriums to be reintroduced. When we had to go to war, they came and took us, but now forgot about us and about those who died,” he stated.
Minister of the Interior Alexandru Jizdan came out before the crowd and invited the veterans to discussions next week. “I assume responsibility for dealing with the problems of veterans. I invited representatives of veterans to draw up a plan of action and to set implementation deadlines and we will monitor the situation to see who does not do their job,” he stated.
If the authors do not take measures, the veterans intend to mount protests in districts at the start of June.
