Viorel Topa is not in Moldova

Businessman Viorel Ţopa, who was sentenced to eight years in prison, wasn’t present in the courtroom when the sentence was pronounced. The leader of the Antimafia Movement Sergiu Mocanu has told Info-Prim Neo that Topa left Moldova two months ago, when the arrest warrant against him was issued. “Viorel Topa is now in the custody of a European country. The sentence was passed within a legal case that was fabricated by Plahotniuc. He invented that Viorel Topa, while director of Banca de Economii 12 years ago, released a delinquent loan. This is not right as the bank recovered the money later. Thos who examined this case did not even bother to simulate a legal trial,” said Sergiu Mocanu. He also said that the decision will be appealed, but he does not believe that the result will change. According to him, those to blame will be punished later by other methods. Businessmen Victor and Viorel Topa in 2010 joined Sergiu Mocanu in a lawsuit filed against First Deputy Speaker Vlad Plahotniuc. They lost the case and Sergiu Mocanu was forced to pay damages for slander.
