Visitor numbers dropped slightly in Moldovan accommodation units

In January-June, accommodation establishments in Moldova were visited by a total of 110,800 people, including 69,300 Moldovans and 41,500 foreigners, by 2,000 fewer than in the similar period last year, according to the National Statistics Bureau.

Of the total number of guest nights, Moldovan visitors accounted for 83.1%.

Among foreigners, Romanian guests had the largest share, of 25.1%, followed by Ukrainians with 10.5%, Russians with 9% and United States citizens with 7.3%.

In this period, accommodation establishments had an overall occupancy rate of 28.9%. By group, establishments providing therapeutic and invigoration services had an occupancy rate of 60, hostels 48,8%, summer camps for students 41.2%, hotels and motels 16,5%, villas 11.8%, and boarding houses and agritourism units 8.6%.
