The lawyers for Vlad Filat disputed the decision passed by the Chisinau Appeals Court and the Buiucani Court in the case of the former Premier in the Supreme Court of Justice. The defense insists that the appeal should be examined in a public hearing and the judges should pronounce on all the invoked reasons, IPN reports.

The lawyers requested the Supreme Court of Justice to fully quash the decision of the Buiucani Court, to partially quash the decision of the Penal Board of the Chisinau Appeals Court, to retry the case and pass a new judgment in this case.

According to the lawyers, the Supreme Court of Justice is able to quash the illegal decisions passed by the lower courts, to correctly assess the circumstances and to pronounce a just sentence. Vlad Filat didn’t enjoy a fair trial. He was tried behind closed doors and artificial evidence and invented witnesses were used. As a result, illegal decisions were passed and a precedent for political conviction was set.

The Supreme Court of Justice has three months to pronounce on the admissibility of the appeal filed in the name of Vlad Filat.
