Minister of Justice Vladimir Cebotari promises to make drastic reforms in justice. He developed the issue in the talk show “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.
“You will soon all see the shock therapy measures intended for the justice sector. These are very firm measures that will sterilize the state institutions. The integrity testing will be performed unexpectedly,” stated Cebotari.
He admitted that the Moldovan justice is in a deplorable state. “All the state systems failed. The solution is to start to increase the responsibility of all the players, pursuing the goal of protecting the rights and interests of the people. The state must serve the people’s interests,” said the minister of justice.
Vladimir Cebotari noted there are clear measures planned for remedying the situation in the field. “The system is not perfect, but we know what we have to do. We want to institute the electronic case so that the evidence is presented in an electronic form and the agenda is coordinated by electronic means. We want the persons with health problems to attend the hearings by videoconferencing. There are enough persons to ensure changes in the system,” he stated.
As to the anti-government protests, the minister said these are no longer within the law. “The protesters exceeded the limits of peaceful protests. Even the ECHR often ruled in favor of governments of countries that were in litigation with protesters who caused blockages or behaved violently,” he said
