Vladimir Voronin to appear before commission investigating April 2009 events

The commission of inquiry into the causes and consequences of the April 2009 events will question former head of state Vladimir Voronin next week. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, the commission's chairman Vitalie Nagacevski said the leader of the Communists Party will be invited for questioning on Tuesday or Wednesday. Vitalie Nagacevski said the commission continues to collect evidence and quiz witnesses. A final report will be rendered late in March or by April 7 in the worst case. Nagacevski considers that dissensions can appear between the members of the commission when the final report will be drawn up. Asked if the commission was assisted by European experts, the chairman said only one expert participated in mapping out the report. “No other experts were delegated. The period of time allotted to us is short. The European institutions are much more bureaucratized than ours,” he said. The April 7, 2009 events are investigated in parallel by the parliamentary inquiry commission and the Prosecutor General's Office.
