Vladislav Gribincea sworn in as SCJ judge

Vladislav Gribincea, who was appointed to the Supreme Court of Justice, was sworn in on Friday, during the meeting of the Superior Council of Magistracy. He is the first SCJ judge appointed from among non-judges, IPN reports.

SCM acting chairman Sergiu Caraman said that Vladislav Gribincea was named judge of the SCJ by presidential decree. He is to take up his duties on July 1.

“It’s a big responsibility. The expectations are high and I assure you that I will do everything I can so as not to disappoint,” said Vladislav Gribincea.

Vladislav Gribincea was the president of the Legal Resources Center from Moldova in 2010-2022, and currently holds the position of director of the Justice Program on an interim basis. He is a member of the Lawyers Union of the Republic of Moldova. Since 2002, he has represented applicants before the European Court of Human Rights, as well as in strategic disputes at national level. He was involved as an expert in the working out of the Justice Sector Reform Strategy for 2011-2016 and in the review of the legislation on judicial organization, civil procedure and criminal procedure.

The SCM is to appoint 12 more judges to the SCJ. According to the Law on the Supreme Court of Justice, 11 of the 20 judges who are members of the SCJ are judges, while the other nine are non-judges.
