Voices for Hospices
The Medical-Social Philanthropic Foundation “Angelus Moldova” during the Hospice and Palliative Care Week will carry out a series of activities aimed at raising awareness, improving access to palliative care and drugs and attracting funds to support the development of hospice and palliative care services in every community, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the foundation.
On the occasion of the World Hospice and Palliative Care Day, “Angelus Moldova” will organize events to inform the people and promote and develop hospice and palliative care services in Moldova.
On October 7, “Angelus Moldova” in concert with Soros Moldova Foundational will inaugurate the Palliative Care Center in Taraclia district. On October 8, “Angelus Moldova” will stage a charity concert at the State Philharmonic “Serghei Lunchevici”, with the participation of Moldovan artists, and a charity ball titled “Angelus”, which will take place after the concert and aims to promote the hospice and palliative care services among decision makers.
This year, the voices of people living with life-limiting illness, their carers and families will be heard to show the importance of hospice and palliative care and what it means to them. Policy makers and key people who can influence the development of hospice and palliative care will be encouraged to speak out about this important issue.
The World Hospice and Palliative Care Day was marked for the first time in 2005, when there were held over 1,100 events in 74 countries. Thousands of persons from 128 countries signed a petition, demanding that the life of persons living with a terminal illness be improved.
The major fundraising activity for the World Day 2009 is Voices for Hospices, a wave of concerts and musical events around the world.
