Silhouettes sketched by journalist Vasile Botnaru were displayed at an exhibition themed “Volatile Dreams”, at the National Museum of Arts in Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Vasile Botnaru said he has had this passion for 15 years. It was writer Emilian Galaicu-Paun who convinced him to exhibit his works. “It is an extraordinary occasion for me as I’m not a professional. I did not study painting and would have never dared to display my works if somebody hadn’t encouraged me. It is a great honor for me to see my works exhibited in a hall that will later house graphic works,” said Vasile Botnaru.
According to the journalist, the sketches illustrate the leitmotif of the relations between a man and a woman. They show the states of a couple either in the height of the feelings of love or at the end. “I named them volatile dreams because these are the seconds that I sometimes manage to catch, but they fade away until morning. However, I manage to grasp them and put them on paper,” said the author.
Tudor Zbarnea, director of the National Museum of Arts, said that Vasile Botnaru’s sketches represent extraordinary gestures. “I would like to have many colleagues among plastic artists who can draw so freely and spontaneously and simultaneously so reasonably,” he stated. “Vasile Botnaru is a nonconformist, an artist who loves graphics.”
Writer Emilian Galaicu-Paun said the technique used by Vasile Botnaru is like the technique of the ball on a white sheet. “It reminds me of the Japanese haiku and everything that means quick and exact gesture movement,” he stated.
The opening of the exhibition was attended by personalities and friends of the journalist, including former President Petru Lucinschi, the leader of the PL Mihai Ghimpu, writer Vladimir Besleaga, and colleagues.
The exhibit “Volatile Dreams” can be visited until December 4.
