Vote could be given at 16
Moldova's Acting President and the Head of Parliament Mihai Ghimpu proposed that the people in Moldova get the vote at 16 not 18 as the Constitution stipulates, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Mihai Ghimpu made the proposal at a public meeting of the constitutional reform commission on February 9. He argued that the young people at the age of 16 are informed and responsible enough to make a choice. He added that the issue was discussed at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and that many European countries use such a practice.
Mihai Ghimpu's proposal will be examined by a special working group of the commission.
