An earthquake with the magnitude of 4.8 on the Richter scale happened in the Vrancea region of Romania at 10:45pm on September 10, at a depth of 107 km. According to the head of the Experimental Seismology Center of the Chisinau Institute of Geology and Seismology Ion Ilies, in Chisinau the quake measured 4 on the Richter scale.
On Moldova’s territory, the quake was felt by the population as one shock. In southern Moldova, the earthquake reached a magnitude of 4-5 on the Richter scale, being accompanied by a seismic noise.
According to Ion Ilies, a quake of such a size does not cause damage or destruction. The last earthquake with the magnitude of 4 on the Richter scale occurred on March 29.
