Waste management project in Leova completed
The Leova Waste Management Association and its partners from the Moldova-Czech Republic international development cooperation announced that the waste management project in Leova was finished.
The 470,000 euro project “Formulation of the Household Waste Management Conception to Reduce the Negative Impact on Water Quality in Leova District” had been implemented during three years, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Czech Embassy in Chisinau.
The project assisted the Leova municipality to draft the methodology for waste management, to develop the concept how to deal with municipal waste and how the waste management program should look like. One of the major aims of the project was supporting separation and collection of municipal waste and certain types of hazardous waste in the city.
In the period since 2006, the residual water treatment plant had been reconstructed and a new waste water treatment plant provided. In the region of Leova, the old ecological burden in Iargara was removed and a regional scheme of water supply developed.
