A woman aged 74 from Soroca district was found dead in her house in the morning of January 17. The woman’s husband was also in the house. He was tied to the bed.

The call to the police was made at about 8am. “A woman called the police in Soroca and said she found tied her neighbor aged 75 in his house in Bulboci village, while his 74-year-old wife dead. The police officers who travelled to the scene found the man tied to the bed. His wife had signs of a violent death on the body,” press officer of the General Police Inspectorate Mariana Bețivu has told IPN.

The man was taken to the hospital for being offered medical care. An investigation is underway.

Asked by IPN to provide details, press officer of the Soroca Police Inspectorate Svetlana Talpă said the police identified a number of suspects, but no one has been arrested yet.

Mayor of Bulboci Iurie Cojocaru has told IPN that only the two lived in the house. The couple has a daughter  who lives not far from the parents’ house. She is the director of the local secondary school. The police were alerted by a female neighbor who heard the man’s cries. The man has an active lifestyle and takes part in different activities in the community. The couple had two sons who died.
