Woman from Stefan Voda perishes in house fire

A woman aged 59 from Stefan Voda town burned to death in her house. It is presumed that the fire was caused by a smoldering cigarette.

Press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service Diana Turcan has told IPN that the firefighters were called by neighbors in the evening of October 6. The fire stopped burning before the firefighting vehicle arrived. The carbonized body of the woman was found in one of the rooms.

The firefighters warn that smoking inside is dangerous and can lead to fires with fatal consequences. Thirty persons died in fires caused by careless smoking so far this year.
