A hurried driver who overtook a car without paying adequate attention to traffic caused an accident that claimed one live. The accident happened near Macarasti village on October 24. Traffic Police Division spokeswoman Dana Andronic has told Info-Prim Neo that a Volkswagen Transporter minibus driven by a man aged 50 made a U-turn and collided head-on with an Audi-80 car. Consequently, a 67-year-old woman traveling in the car died. A 35-year-old man was found lying in a ditch not far from Larguta village, Cantemir. He had the pelvic bones broken and abdominal hemorrhage. An ambulance took him to the hospital. Presumably, he was struck by a truck. An investigation is under way. Two cars ran into utility poles in different settlements at an interval of two hours. The first accident occurred near Ignatei village, Rezina. The driver and two passengers suffered injuries. In the second case, the car went into a pole in Magdacesti, Criuleni, and caught fire. The driver managed to get out and was hospitalized with traumas. The ten accidents that happened on the national roads yesterday and last night resulted in one death and 12 persons injured.
