The 56-year-old woman who heads a homebuilding cooperative situated in Botanica district of Chisinau is investigated for appropriation. The police suspect her of betraying the dwellers’ trust and of embezzling about 3000,000 lei from them, IPN reports.

In a communiqué, the Chisinau Police Division says the woman distributed to the dwellers bills showing incorrect sums, especially the bank charge for providing services, which is 1.5%, not 3% as she indicated in the bills. Also, the woman was unable to prove that she was named to the post legally.

As a result of searches at the woman’s home and the office where the accounting documents were kept, there were found 521,000 lei and €2,750 whose origin is not known and different draft documents. The woman faces 8 to 15 years in jail for embezzlement.
