Representatives of women’s organizations of the National Federation of Agriculture and Food Industry Trade Unions “Agroindsind” discussed the problems faced by women in rural areas with Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family Valentina Buliga in order to identify solutions. They informed the official that they will stage protests if need be so that the authorities take their demands into account, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué of the National Confederation of Trade Unions of Moldova, the meeting was held after representatives of “Agroindsind” last week submitted a series of demands to the authorities, highlighting the problems experienced by women, related to health, dignity, education, unemployment, illegal labor and labor protection.
“The problems we encounter daily, especially in the rural areas, should be solved amicably, within budgetary limits. I understand your concern and we will continue to make effort to improve the lives of women so that they remain in the country, near their families,” said Valentina Buliga.
The minister also said that they are preparing the launch of a family support service that is designed to prevent and/or overcome risk situations so as to make sure that the children grow and are educated in the family.
Daria Bostan, head of a women’s organization of “Agroindsind”, said measures should be taken for the women from rural areas to have decent living conditions.
The meeting involved representatives of the Women’s Council of the National Confederation of Trade Unions. The Council’s head Liuba Rotaru said the women must be united and do their utmost to achieve the wanted result. If necessary, they will take to the streets.
The Confederation’s deputy chairman Mihail Hancu said the discussions on the issue will continue with Prime Minister Iurie Leanca as they want the authorities to take the necessary steps before the adoption of the 2014 budget.
The representatives of women’s organizations gave the authorities a month to take measures, by November 20. If nothing is done, they will mount protests.
