Young Liberals lay flowers and share tricolor ribbons on Romania’s Day

Young Liberals laid flowers at the monument to ruler Stephan the Great and distributed tricolor ribbons to passersby, urging them to celebrate the Great Union and Romania’s Day together with them, Info-Prim Neo reports. The young people brought with them about 10,000 tricolor ribbons. Chairman of the Liberal Students Club Ion Bargan said the event was aimed at making common cause with those who think and feel as the Romanians. “This ribbon represents the unity and continuity of the Romanian people. The three colors were present when our forerunners fought to defend our future,” he stated. Another young man, Maxim Gutu said that this day will remain in everyone’s memory forever. Today’s event represents homage to those who had the courage to fight and contribute to the Great Union. Cristina Cibotari said December 1 is an important day as it is Romania’s Day and the day of the Romanians from everywhere. “We put tricolor ribbons in the people’s chest and tell them not to forget the history and where they come from and to celebrate this day,” said the young woman. Among the passersby were persons who did not want to accept ribbons, saying it wasn’t a holiday for them. On December 1, 1918, the National Assembly of Alba Iulia adopted a resolution whereby it confirmed the union of all the Romanians from Transylvania and the entire Banat with Romania. The day remained in history as the Great Union of all Romanians.
