A 18-year-old woman died following a traffic accident that occurred in Copceac, Ștefan Vodă on Tuesday night.

The motorcycle she was riding as a passenger hit frontally a tractor that was being driven by a drunken man, on the wrong side of the road, and without the lights on.

Neither the woman, nor the 25-year-old motorcyclist was wearing any protective gear. Both were rushed to the district hospital, but the girl died several hours after hospitalization.

The tractor driver was found to have a breath alcohol concentration of 0.55 mg/l. Currently arrested for 72 hours, the 64-year old man faces 7 years in prison.
