A 27-year-old woman died when the car on which she travelled as a passenger was hit frontally by a vehicle coming from the opposite direction. It happened on the Mereni- Maximovca road in Anenii Noi district last night.

Anenii Noi Police Inspectorate press officer Silvia Vetcu has told IPN that the hit car was traveling legally. The young woman died on the spot, while the 22-year-old driver was rushed to the Chisinau Emergency Medicine Institute with different traumas.

The driver and the passenger of the other car were also taken to the hospital. The police said the men aged 40 and 21 from Mereni village were under the influence of alcohol.

An investigation is under way to establish all the circumstances of the accident.
