Zalina Marghiev finishes eighth at World Championships in Athletics

Moldova’s Zalina Marghiev ranked eighth at the World Championships in Athletics that closed in Daegu, South Korea, on September 4. In the hammer throw final, Zalina scored the result of 70.27 meters, Info-Prim Neo reports. Two weeks ago, the Moldovan athlete won a gold medal at the World University Games. Earlier, at the Champs in South Korea, Ion Luchianov finished eighth in the 3 000 m hurdles. In Daegu, Moldova was also represented by Marina Marghiev, who failed to qualify for the hammer throw final. Zalina Marghiev and Ion Luchianov will thus compete in the 2012 London Olympics. The U.S. topped the general country rankings with 25 medals, 12 of which gold.
