14 117 lei - was the average gross monthly wage in the third quarter of 2024. The figure is up by more than 14% compared to the third quarter of 2023 and by 0.3% compared to the second quarter of this year, show the data of the National Bureau of Statistics, IPN reports.

Wage earnings rose in real terms by 8.7% compared with the same period last year.

The highest average monthly salary in the third quarter of this year was earned by employees in the information and communications sector - over 34 thousand lei. Employees in financial and insurance activities earned 26 thousand lei, and those in the production and supply of electricity and heat, gas, hot water and air conditioning - over 21 thousand lei.

On the other hand, the lowest average monthly earnings were earned by employees in the accommodation and food service activities - over 9.5 thousand lei, agriculture, forestry and fishing - 9.6 thousand lei and arts, recreation and leisure activities - 9.9 thousand lei.
