Debts cause serious problems to SA Termocom

The historical debts of SA Termocom to SA Moldovagaz and thermoelectric power plants (CETs) do not allow the heat supplier to develop and modernize and endanger the preparations for the new heating season, Info-Prim Neo reports. Termocom director Mihail Cernei considers the situation can and should be discussed with government officials, municipal authorities and companies involved in the trials over debts. According to him, a solution to unfreeze the accounts of SA Termocom may be identified during such consultations as that the heat supplier can make the payments to SA Moldovagaz and CETs. Mihail Cernei asked the Chisinau administration to help obtain the forgiving of the historical debts to suppliers until 2009. “A Government meeting should be held this week to discuss the situation. Termocom was sued by CET-1 and CET-2 over the outstanding debts accumulated in 2002-2008. We lost the last case to CET-2 and were forced to immediately pay 252 million lei. This means that the accounts will remain frozen,” the director of Termocom said, adding the company may be unable to prepare the system for the future heating season. Currently, the accounts of Termocom are blocked. CET-2 withdrew 10 million lei in debts under a court order. Earlier, Mihail Cernei said the level of payments for heat among the population is now 50%. The Chisinau City Hall owes 17 million lei to Termocom for the consumed heat.
