Former prime minister Vasile Tarlev is today founding the initiative group that will support his presidential bid. Also today, the group will apply for registration with the Central Electoral Commission. 

“Today is a historic event. Showing great responsibility, citizens from across Moldova came here this morning to form this the initiative group that is authorized to collect signatures”, Vasile Tarlev told a press conference.

He added that the initiative group consists of a hundred people that will engage in a “a fair, honest, principled fight to bring about change in our country”.

“Our solid foundation is the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Moldova, our military neutrality and the well-being of the population. Our priorities include equality in our country, regardless of ethnicity, faith and all other aspects. We are citizens of the Republic of Moldova, we are Moldovans and we have to put our household in order”, said the former prime minister.

Today the CEC opens the registration of candidates and their initiative groups, with a decision to be made within 3 days in each case. The deadline for registering initiative groups is August 31.
