“33 at the table of silence”, interviews by Gheorghe Budeanu

“33 at the table of silence” is the new book of journalist Gheorghe Budeanu that was launched at the library “Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu” on May 28. The volume contains 32 interviews taken in 1991-2009. ”I'm the 33rd person as talking to them I did not sit under the table,” the journalist said at the launch, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Endless Column is represented on the book's cover. The journalist says it is the symbol of Romanianism, while the book features the most prominent figures living on the banks of the Prut. The protagonist of the first interview is Archpriest Mina, while of the last – the first President of Moldova Mircea Snegur. Gheorghe Budeanu said all the interviews are dear to him, but he has special feelings for those with writer Vasile Vasilache, poet and filmmaker Gheorghe Voda and Mircea Snegur. Among other protagonists of the book are former Romanian Minister of Culture Ion Caramitru, caricaturist Stefan Popa Popa's, poet Ana Blandiana, former Romanian Ambassador in Chisinau Marcel Dinu. “Gheorghe Budeanu was able to draw famous persons to a sincere discussion,” Mircea Snegur said at the launch, adding he has always read the author's articles with interest. “He is a famous journalist,” said actress Ninela Caranfil. “The answers are wise as the questions were put wisely,” she said, wishing the journalist good luck and stressing she would also like to be the protagonist of an interview. Nina Gorincioi-Cadoppi, who supported financially the publication of the book, said she got acquainted with the journalist in Italy. “He is a kindhearted man with a special culture,” she said. The book was printed in 1,000 copies.
