The events in Balti are the continuation of the Communist Party policy to undermine the current government by various means. The opinion was voiced by political analyst Viorel Cibotaru. Viorel Cibotaru told Info-Prim Neo that the move was guided directly by the Communists Party, through its local councilors and the Balti City Hall, which wants to tense the situations by all means. According to Cibotaru, the legislation of the Republic of Moldova was violated directly. The decision to organize the referendum is a purely political action to test the strength of the government in Chisinau. Viorel Cibotaru expects the reactions of the central government, which should employ the state’s competent bodies to annul the decisions of the Balti Municipal Council.
