Alexei Roibu and Mihail Sleahtitchi resign

Prime Minister Vlad Filat today proposed President Nicolae Timofti to discharge Alexei Roibu and Mihail Sleahtitchi from the posts of Interior Minister and Education Minister, respectively, based on their resignation letters, the Government said in a press release. Concomitantly, Filat nominated Dorin Recean and Maia Sandu as replacements. Dorin Recean was born on 17 March 1974. He received a degree in management of international economic relations from the Moldovan Academy of Economics and an MBA from the Newport University, Belgium branch. In 1995-2007 he lectured at the Moldovan Academy of Economics, and since 2000 he has also been a lecturer at the Chisinau-based Newport University International. In 1995-2002 Dorin Recean served in various capacities at the Agency for Enterprise Restructuring and Assistance. From 2003 to 2010 he served as CEO of the Milenium Grup, and since January 2010 he has been serving as Deputy Minister of Information Technology and Communications. Maia Sandu was born on 24 May 1972. She graduated from the Moldovan Academy of Economics' Management Department and obtained a master's degree in international relations from the Public Administration academy and a master's degree in public administration from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. In 1994-1998 she was adviser and then deputy head of division at the Ministry of Economy. In 1998-2005 she worked as economist for the World Bank Office in Moldova, and in 2005-2006 she served as head of the Ministry of Economy's Macroeconomics and Development Division. In 2010-2012 she advised to the World Bank Executive Director in Washington DC.
