The six persons investigated in the case of passport forging will stay under house arrest for 20 to 30 days. The decision was taken by a court of law on April 29, IPN reports.
The suspects include two employees of the state-run Information Resources Center “Registru”, two employees of the Bureau for Migration and Asylum and two intermediaries.
The functionaries of “Registru” and the Bureau for Migration and Asylum are suspected of abuse of power and forging of public documents in the interests of criminal groups. The investigators established that 31 persons came into possession of forged passports by paying up to €10,000 per passport. If the suspects are found guilty, they will serve up to ten years in jail.
