Almost 2,000 police officers ensure security in elections
The Ministry of the Interior instituted a special staff with the aim of ensuring the smooth running of the elections. As many as 1 918 police officers work on the spot, Minister of the Interior Alexei Roibu said in a meeting called by Prime Minister Vlad Filat, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Government.
The minister said that operative groups consisting of two persons monitor the voting process at each of the 300 polling places established in the municipality of Chisinau.
“No violations have been reported so far. There is a peaceful atmosphere in Chisinau and all over the country,” said the minister.
Vlad Filat instructed recording all the violations, in accordance with the legislation. “We must create appropriate voting conditions for the Moldovan people so that they feel free when they exercise their right to vote,” said the Premier.
