Moldovan Ambassador Victor Moraru was re-elected for a new term as inspector in the Joint Inspection Unit (JIU) of the United Nations System in the elections held at the UN General Assembly. Thus, Moraru will fulfil his duties within the JIU also during 2026-2030, IPN reports.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the re-election of Ambassador Victor Moraru to the JIU is a proof of the international appreciation and recognition of the experience and expertise of the candidate promoted by our country. Thus, Moldova remains firmly committed to the process of improving the managerial-administrative and operational performance of the UN System and its specialized agencies.

Three states participated in the competition for the vacancy assigned to the Eastern European Group in the JIU: Moldova, Bulgaria and Slovakia. Victor Moraru obtained the most votes - 107 - from the 185 states participating in the elections, with a necessary majority of 91 votes.
