Ambassadors to be recalled, confirmed

President Igor Dodon had a working meeting with Prime Minister Pavel Filip in the afternoon of March 2. The officials discussed the recalling of ten ambassadors and the naming of 17 potential candidates, IPN reports, quoting the presidential press service.

According to the press release, the Head of State said he does not agree with some of the candidates proposed initially by the Government. ”I treat this issue with maximum seriousness and sincerely want the Republic of Moldova to be represented outside the country by persons who have the qualities needed to promote the country’s interests the best. As it was earlier announced, I no way want to block the diplomatic activity of the Republic of Moldova abroad, but I’m determined to thoroughly analyze each of the candidate for ambassador and even formulate proposals where I consider necessary, both as regards the appointment of ambassadors and the recalling of some of the ambassadors,” stated Igor Dodon.

The President accepted to start the procedure for asking for the agreement for a group of candidates for Moldova’s ambassador, namely: Andrei Neguta, to Russia; Aurel Ciocoi to the U.S,:, Victor Sorocean, to Belarus; Victor Osipov, to Austria; Emil Druc, to France; Victor Moraru, as Moldova’s Standing Representative to the United Nations/New York; Anatol Vangheli, to Greece, and Violeta Agrici, to Spain.

The names of the ambassadors who could be recalled weren’t made public.

According to the Head of State, the discussions on the issue between the presidential administration and the executive will continue.
