Anca Dragu at IMF and World Bank Annual Meetings: Support to Moldova helps promote economic reforms

A delegation of the National Bank of Moldova and the Ministry of Finance, led by Governor Anca Dragu, is taking part in the Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group in Washington, IPN reports.

The first bilateral meeting on the agenda of Governor Anca Dragu's visit to the U.S. was with the Deputy Managing Director of the IMF Kenji Okamura. During this meeting, Dragu presented the economic developments of the Republic of Moldova and the results of the program with the IMF, mentioning also the reforms necessary for European integration. The discussions focused on monetary policy, bank stability and sustainable finance.

A special topic was the Financial Sector Assessment Program (FSAP), which will be implemented in 2025. Anca Dragu underlined the NBM's commitment to support this process, noting that it is essential for the development of the financial sector in Moldova. "The financial assistance provided so far has a positive impact on the development of the national economy. The support provided by the IMF contributes to the promotion and implementation of economic reforms, reflected in improved quality of life for citizens and creation of a favorable long-term development framework," stressed the NBM governor.

The delegation will have meetings with representatives of the IMF, WB, IFC, the European Commission and other external development partners.

The Annual Meetings of the IMF and the World Bank Group are a forum for dialogue and exchange of experience between high-ranking representatives of the international financial sector in the context of current regional and global developments, as well as in the medium to long term. The meetings are taking place in Washington, D.C., from 21 to 26 October.
