The leader of the PPPDA Andrei Năstase said it is highly improbable there will be surprises when Parliament makes the first attempt to vote in the Government and the greatest stake is the second attempt. The tacit PSRM-Shor Party coalition could be formalized after the first attempt to invest the Gavrilița Government fails and this would propose a candidate for Prime Minister, IPN reports.
The politician noted the PPPDA will remain consistent in statements and will not vote for Natalia Gavrilița. Moreover, they are skeptical that the candidate for Prime Minister can obtain the Parliament’s vote of confidence on the first attempt.
“The big risk is that Dodon, Shor, Plahotniuc on the second attempt will come with a formalized majority. Under the Constitutional Court’s judgment, the candidate proposed by a formalized majority cannot be rejected. They could find a proper candidate and we would not have what to reproach them for,” Andrei Năstase stated in the talk show “Shadow Cabinet” on Jurnal TV channel.
As to the snap elections, Năstase said the PPPDA will make effort to persuade the voters that it deserves to enter the next Parliament. Moreover, he made it clear that he approves of the idea of forming an electoral bloc with the PAS even if the acting president of the PAS Igor Grosu earlier announced that the party would compete independently in elections.
“We weren’t those who initiated the dissolution of the ACUM Bloc. The DA Platform has pleaded for unity in the interests of the citizens,” stated Andrei Năstase.
Under the Constitution, a candidate for Prime Minister can be proposed by a parliamentary majority constituted officially. In the absence of this, the candidate is proposed by the President. If Parliament fails to vote in the Prime Minister and the Government by two attempts, the legislative body is dissolved and snap parliamentary elections are called.
