Acting Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Andrian Candu is the only candidate for the post of Head of Parliament. The special commission for designating the Speaker is preparing the voting procedure, IPN reports.
Andrian Candu was put forward by the Democratic parliamentary group. The other factions didn’t field candidates. The Socialist and Liberal MPs announced that they will not take part in the voting.
A break of 40 minutes was asked for preparing the ballots. To be elected Speaker, Andrian Candu must poll a majority of votes of MP.
Andrian Candu is 39. He was named Minister of Economy on July 2, 2014. Between May 30, 2013 and July 11, 2014, he had served as Deputy Head of Parliament. He had been a Member of Parliament from December 2010 until July 2014.
