The People’s Movement “Antimafie” continues to mount protests against the current government. This Sunday, March 1, the protest will be staged in the square of the National Opera House. In a news conference at IPN, the party’s leader Sergiu Mocanu said the installation of the Gaburici Government is an attempt to discontinue unnoticeably the European integration course.

Sergiu Mocanu stated that the people will join the protests because they are tired of the empty promises made by the politicians, who do not want to do reforms. The PDM and PLDM do not want Moldova to continue its path to the EU because they will have to implement reforms otherwise, including the justice sector reform. The two parties do not want the prosecution service to be reformed because this means taking legal action against Vlad Filat and Vlad Plahotniuc.

The leader of “Antimafie” also said that the situation in Moldova is disastrous and those who are in power will make effort to postpone the local elections for at least one year, invoking the necessity of implementing the territorial-administrative reform.

Sergiu Mocanu referred also to the possibility of former Prime Minister Leanca creating his own party. “Only Vlad Plahotniuc knows if a new party headed by ex-Premier Iurie Leanca will appear on the political arena. If Filat is sufficiently obedient, such a party will not be founded,” he stated.

“We, the Movement “Antimafie”, will mount protests. Currently, there are no other forms for opposing an anti-people government except for street protests. We will continue protesting on March 1, in the square of the National Opera House. We invite everyone to join us,” said Sergiu Mocanu.

“Antimafie” also staged protests last week, when the Gaburici Government was invested.
