Appeals Court rules in favor of excluding Party “Patria” from ballot

The Chisinau Appeals Court accepted the Central Election Commission’s request to annul the registration of the Party “Patria” (PP) as election runner and rejected the party’s appeal, IPN reports.

The Commission made such a request following a notification from the General Police Inspectorate, which informed that the PP used foreign funds of 8 million lei in its election campaign. The Chisinau Appeals Court also ordered confiscating the 8 million lei.

Renato Usatyi, who topped the PP’s list of candidates for MP ,described this decision as ‘circus’ and ‘political order’ and announced that they will challenge the Chisinau Appeals Court’s decision in the Supreme Court of Justice. He noted he expects that their challenge will be yet rejected. Renato Usatyi didn’t rule out the possibility that they will mount protests, but said he will provide more details after the Supreme Court of Justice passes a final judgment.
