Automated voter registration system will eliminate stamp put in identity card

A pilot project to test the modules of the state automated information system “Elections” was implemented at 43 poling places of Chisinau’s Centru district, Info-Prim Neo reports. ”It is a much simpler method of registering the voters. We type the series and number of the identity card and are provided with all the data about the person. The program will be later implemented at all the polling places in the country,” said Svetlana Banuta, operator of the project at polling place No.120 in Centru district. Computers connected to the database of the Central Election Commission were installed in the polling places where the system was tested. The system prevents multiple voting. When the project is implemented nationwide, there will be no need to put the stamp ‘voted’ in the identity card.
