Balti prosecutor suspected of passive corruption
The General Prosecutor's Office (PG) instituted legal proceedings against a prosecutor from Balti municipality, who asked 3,000 euros from a female culprit, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the PG.
The prosecutor led a case in which the house belonging to the culprit was sequestrated. In order to modify the charges against the woman so that the punishment was less strict, the prosecutor asked 3,000 euros from her.
If found guilty, the prosecutor would serve 5 to 10 years behind bars, would be fined 20 000 to 60 000 lei and deprived of the right to hold a certain post or carry out a certain activity for a period of 2 to 5 years.
