BCS asks Constitutional Court to establish constitutionality of merger of two hospitals

MPs of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists Vladimir Odnostalco and Alla Darovannaya on Wednesday lodged a complaint with the Constitutional Court, asking this to determine the constitutionality of the Government’s decision to merge “Toma Ciorbă” Clinical Infectious Diseases Hospital with the Dermatological Hospital, IPN reports.

Vladimir Odnostalco said that at the end of last year, doctors from these institutions protested on numerous occasions against the “violent merger of hospitals”. The Ministry of Health brought all the district hospitals under its control. Then they concentrated their attention on the hospitals of the capital city.

For her part, Alla Darovannaya noted that the merger of these two medical institutions is against the law and the country’s Constitution. Two fully different hospitals, one for infectious diseases and the other one for dermatological diseases, cannot exist as one entity. They are hopeful that the Constitutional Court will declare the decision to merge the two hospitals unconstitutional.
