BCS MPs propose that military pensions should be recalculated

The parliamentary group of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists (BCS) suggested that the law should stipulate the possibility of recalculating military pensions. According to them, the legislation does not currently provide for mechanisms for recalculating the pension if the beneficiary continues to contribute to the public social insurance system after the pension is set, IPN reports.

The BCS noted that the military and employees of law enforcement agencies, as well as those of the penitentiary system, retire earlier than other categories of citizens. However, the law on the provision of military pensions does not stipulate mechanisms for recalculating the pension if the beneficiary continues to contribute to the public social insurance system after the pension is set.

The presented draft law provides for the possibility of recalculating pensions for these categories of citizens, if they continue to work after retiring due to old age or disability. Under the bill, this right could be used in only two years after reaching the standard retirement age, which is currently 63 years for men and 60.5 years for women.

MP Alla Darovannaya in a press briefing said that the goal is to align the military with all the other pensioners in terms of recalculation of pensions. The number of recipients of old-age pensions in this category is 19,845 people, while the recipients of disability pensions total about 850 people.
