An application signed by 1 200 000 persons, whereby the Parliaments of Moldova and Romania are requested to vote for the country’s reunification by joining again Bessarabia to Romania in the March 27 common meeting, was registered with the secretariats of the two institutions on March 13.
The information was communicated by the director of the Center for the Protection of Fundamental Rights “Sirius” Anatolie Petric in a news conference at IPN, where this called again on the people to come to the Great National Assembly Square in Chisinau on March 25 and vote the statement on the recognition of the Union Act of March 27, 1918.
According to Anatolie Petrici, the application was registered with the Government of Romania, the Royal House in Bucharest, the Bucharest Prosecutor’s Office, the Senate of Romania, the Chamber of Deputies, the Constitutional Court and the Presidential Office of Romania. The given document perfectly complies with the legislation on petitioning. “If in the case of statements no one is obliged to react, the application must be mandatorily examined and the authorities are obliged to give an answer,” he stated.
According to the director of “Sirius”, all those who were born on the territory of Romania, in Bessarabia, and their descendants, are Romanian citizens and they do not need to regain the nationality. At the same time, all the events that took place after June 28, 1940 on the territory where the Republic of Moldova is situated now do not have legal effects as this territory can belong to Romania only.
The members of “Sirius” called on the senior state officials to also come to the assembly scheduled for March 25.
